Michael, this was, without a doubt, the most insightful, practical, and easy-to-digest article I’ve ever read on ‘skills.’

Beyond just ‘skills,’ the framework you built connecting them to task automation and ‘mini-apps’... man, it was outstanding. You articulated the exact logic and connections I’ve been trying to piece together.

Based on your text, I can finally say: okay, I get it. Now I can start building.

My sincere thanks.

P.S. Anthropic should honestly hire you to write their site content (for real).

Hey Matheus,

Holy crap! What a compliment :)

Thank you so much 🙏

I’m also just glad it helped.

Let me know how you get on!

Thank you so much! I have been everywhere trying to understand this and only had headaches to show for it. This is the best hands down that was so simple and easy to follow, that I no longer find it daunting. I can do this now!

Thanks so much!

How do you plan to use skills?

neo's avatar

I want to use it for my business. Am a solopreneur barely starting. Used to Gemini and ChatGPT. Thanks

That’s awesome

Do we need to tell Claude to create folders for us?

The power is the folder.

Also can we use chat or cowork instead of Code tab.

Thank you

Michael Crist's avatar

You can tell Claude to create folders.

Cowork or Code work

Thank you so much for this! I can't wait to start experimenting with skills

That’s awesome!

What skills do you plan to build first?

In the quality process world there’s a concept of SIPOC – supplier, input, process, output, consumer. You’ve very much captured the spirit of that here. (Oddly you’re both the supplier and the consumer!) Excellent read. Thanks for sharing!

Nathan,

Haha, I actually took my IPO idea from SIPOC. I just thought it would make sense for readers to simplify it by cutting off the ends.

My roots are in an Ops world where I lived Lean Six Sigma for about a decade

Nathan Ziarek's avatar

I am sure you’ve forgotten more about SIPOC than I know in that case!

(In one of life’s regrets I worked for a company that did six sigma training / certification and it was free for me to take classes and get certified. Didn’t take one in five years. Young me was not a smart dude.)

Michael Crist's avatar

Oh, I don't know about that 🙃

I'm actually in the same boat as you... I think I have my yellow belt cert but that's it. I was mostly trained and in an environment where it was used regularly, but didn't really go through all of the certifications

Hi Michael, l had a question regarding the tool, in our organisation we have copilot instead of Claude and ChatGPT. Even in copilot we don’t have premium access only normal licence. Is it possible to create such skills in copilot?

Muskan's avatar

Could you tell what it is called in copilot and where to find it?

Your articles are so clear, straightforward and helpful that I couldn’t be more

grateful!
